The origins of Smecky Music Studios can be traced back to 1943, when it was established within the confines of the globally renowned Barrandov film studios, located in the utmost historical and commercial centre of Prague, Czech Republic.

Our studio has a proven track record of excellence in recording all of the film music for Czechoslovak production as well as a selection of film music from Central and Eastern Europe till 1989.

Following the privatisation of the studios in 1991, we proceeded to continue both, our existing work and new opportunities associated with the opening of the Czech Republic to foreign markets. This transition led to a significant surge in music recording for the international film industry, world renowned composers, and production companies.

At the moment, the most frequently recorded genres continue to be music for films, TV, PC games, commercials, pop albums, sonic branding, theatre and spectacular global events requiring impressive musical accompaniment.

Thanks to our 80-year tradition in the field, our greatest asset is our absolute expertise in film and TV score recordings. This expertise covers everything from the ability to contract the best musicians from the country for each project to the perfect acoustics of the live room (0.9 reverb, very helpful for post-production) and the sound engineering team crowned by wealth experience and six Grammy Awards.

In recent years, we have continued this tradition by implementing new technologies, constructing a new, state-of-the-art control room and a new, generasly spacious isolation room. We have expanded our team with a new generation of technical professionals who guarantee the use of today’s top modern technologies, which they control with the utmost precision and speed.

Our location in the heart of Prague is highly valued by many of our clients, who appreciate that they can walk straight out of our door to explore the city, dine at a restaurant or visit a bar—transportation is not necessary.
